How can I strain ground beef without a colander?

I don’t have a colander, and I’m just wondering if there’s an easier way than squishing a plate or pot top on top of it to drain the ground beef.

if you have a large strainer use that
if not then a slotted spoon (one with holes in it) and placing the meat on paper towels
barring that, cheesecloth over a bowl then twist the cheesecloth til the liquid is removed (careful this will be hot)
if none of these are applicable, carefully press a wad of paper towels onto the meat and wait til all the fat is absorbed (MESS ALERT!)
after removing the grease from the pan, add the meat back and alittle wine/stock/water to get the little bits up off the pan
those lil bits contain a ton of flavour
I generally use a slotted spoon, or failing that, just a large soup spoon to remove the excess fat.
you can strain anything with a colander…
Use a large lid or round baking sheet to hold the meat in the pan and drain. Or you can buy a round mesh lid, it also keeps the meat from splattering grease all over.
The best thing I do is, PUt a lid over the pan and drain it into a glass cup, preferrably a coffee mug
I use a turkey baster. I push all the ground beef to one side and then hold the pan on an angle for a minute and then suck all the fat out of it and put it in a cup. Works great for me.
You can mop up the liquid/grease with paper towels, held with tongs, it works very well. Tip the pan as you repeat with new paper towels until enough or all the liquid is absorbed.
Use a strainer!
